recreation and I think time will prove that north Idaho has the finest country and
recreational facilities that can be found in the world."
Tourism has long been a staple of the Sandpoint economy. Much of the draw has been from the environment around the city -- Lake Pend Oreille and the mountains that hover over it. But more recently, the arts have also drawn people to north Idaho.
