Reflections: Frontier Jr. High School Tragedy

A shooting occurred on February 1, 1996, at Frontier Junior High School. A disturbed student killed teacher Leona Caires and students Arnie Fritz and Manuel Vela. Another student, Natalie Hintz, was seriously injured. Concerned citizens created the Safe Schools and Community Task Force and also held many fund raisers for the victims' families.
