Reflections: Gladys Hull

Much community history tends to celebrate the past. Boosters often write the history that survives in publications, and many others who reminisce about their lives in a place remember most the positive relationships that sustained them.

Gladys Hull is one lifelong resident of Moses Lake who has consistently praised her community. In 1925, she wrote a song about Grant County for a special 4-H event. Thirty years later, she added a second verse honoring Grand Coulee Dam and the water that developed the land and the economy. In 1989, Hull completed the song in honor of the Washington State Centennial, again praising those who built the dam and irrigation system.
