The Row River Trail

Courtesy U.S. Forest Service.

The Row River Trail symbolizes the social and economic changes in Cottage Grove. Originally the Oregon and South Eastern shortline logging railroad that connected the town and the Umpqua National Forest, in the 1990s trail partners (including the U.S. Forest Service, the City of Cottage Grove, and Oregon State Parks) transformed the railroad bed into a walking, bicycling and equestrian trail. This popular trail mirrors the larger transformation in the area's economy, which has moved from resource extraction to tourism.
