In March and April, CCRH presented Memory and Other Familiar Words, a program featuring two renowned artists, Lillian Pitt and Elizabeth Woody.

The artists were well received by audiences at Portland State University, Washington State University Vancouver and at the Yakama Nation Museum in Toppenish, Washington.

Pitt and Woody joined together to express their perspectives on the history of the Columbia River Basin. Pitt shared slides of her artwork and offered commentary about their creation and inspiration, and Woody read from selections of her writing, exploring how storytelling and memory shape perspectives and help maintain traditions.

The program was informative, engaging, and entertaining, and it prompted audience members to think about heritage and the history of the region in which they live.
