Center for Columbia River History

The Center for Columbia River History [CCRH] is a regional consortium of Washington State Historical Society, Washington State University Vancouver, and Portland State University. Since

1990 it has presented educational programs and promoted discussion about the history of the Columbia River Basin.  Located in the O.O. Howard House in Vancouver's National Historic Reserve, the Center cooperates with other institutions in the region to promote interdisciplinary research, develop curriculum and exhibits, publish materials in electronic and text forms, teach special courses, and present public programs, including lectures, symposia, films, and performances.


The Center's Mission
The Center for Columbia River History is dedicated to promoting broad public discussions about Columbia River Basin History and its connection to the present through application of critical historical methodology, creative public history products, and direct engagement with Columbia River Basin communities.
